These are not problems to resolve. They are conditions to inhabit.

Pending Studio works from within suspension, treating design not as a resolved answer but as a form held open. Through exhibition, publishing, and pedagogy, the work examines how meaning gets fixed, how cultural narratives are stabilized, and what gets lost in that settling.

Graphic design operates here as a critical and speculative medium, a site for investigating authorship, value, and cultural memory rather than confirming them.

Books are central to this practice. Not as finished objects, but as material and site: annotated, interrupted, reframed. Each intervention surfaces how knowledge is structured, who preserves it, and what assumptions travel with it.

Pending Studio is the practice of Dameon Waggoner, a Los Angeles–based artist, designer, and educator. Trained in painting and printmaking at the University of New Mexico and graphic design at CalArts, he works across creative direction and independent education with a focus on post-institutional design practice.
